Yes they'll still take the DD, regardless of any other payments you make...unless you contact them 5-7 days (forget how many) before the DD collection date.

I'm surprised the information isn't on your statement...it's on mine.

It's also in the DDI confirmation letter they sent you when you set the DD up.

A direct debit starts through the processing system 10 days before your payment due date (although your account will not be debuted ybtil the due date) & cannot be stopped by the organisation taking it within this period. Also the DD system does not recognise alternative/addition payments so yes it will still take.
  • Thanks, i wanted it to still be taken so that's good.
When i log in online it says' next payment due date 0 amount due 0' so i was worried..

That's incorrect. BACS DD is a 3-day process...
    • Day 1: BACS receives electronic details of all direct debit payments due on Day 3
    • Day 2: BACS sorts the information between banks and gives each bank a report of all payments due on Day 3
    • Day 3: Payments are made – the beneficiary’s bank account is credited, and the customer’s bank is debited
Also the DD system does not recognise alternative/addition payments so yes it will still take.
With MBNA et al that's true, but it's not correct to generalise and say it's the case for all DD originators
