Need some advice

Hello,
ive just received a payout for misold ppi. I would like to use it to pay off excisiting debt.Ive got a free copy of my credit report and can see two things i would like to pay off. One to vodafone, and one for orange, but i cant remember what they are from. they are really old, how do i go about settling these so they can be updated on my credit rating?

I also would like to pay my lloyds tsb credit card off, how do i get a settlement figure? Do they knock much off if you pay in full? Ive rang as my credit card account is with collections and they say that they are unable to give me a settlement figure. What can i do?

Thanks

First of all, how old is very old, for the Orange and Vodaphone debts. Does it say 'default'

As for the CC, you have to have not paid it for some time before they will offer you a full and fina settlement.
You can ask again but i think you will have to pay in full in the end.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Hello Vodaphone one was defaulted January 2010 and the Orange one was defaulted November 2010.

You say they are really old, yet the default dates are only 18 months old - when was the last time you made any payment on theses accounts? ICO guidelines state that they should issue a default notice after a minimum o 3 months, an a maximum of 6 months.

If you pay them they will be marked as settled and will actually stay on your file for another 4 years. (They drop off automatically after 6 years in England, 5 in Scotland)

Did you make payments on Vidafone after they defaulted you?. Unless they are very small amounts, they are extremely difficult to get removed. By right, they are meant to be there for six years after they are issued unless they were put on without sticking to ICO and FOS guidelines. One example would be if you were in dispute at the time if default.

Which credit file are you looking at? Creditexpert has contact details for each creditor on your file. I would certainly try and get the Orange on removed if you can. You need to find out if he debt has been sold on first. Then try a au to remove request with orange (remove default) - make up a good enough sob story and reason an you may get somewhere. Not that I enrage that - you may well hav a valid reason.

I would advise paying them off as soon as possible though as it is looked at mre favourab by some lenders (not all though).
