cat, how big and how much food?

After reading the other thread about keeping cats, i'm interested in what others do foodwise. How big is your cat/cats, what do you feed them and how much of it?
We've only had our cats 2 months, so not sure they're getting the right amounts, but they are 2 kittens, one is a little 4 month old girl, the other is a bigger 9 month old male who's 3.5kgs. I feed them 1.5 bozita tetra packs or 1 bozita can a day between them, plus as much dry kitten food as they want. I think i might be giving them too much wet food.
Bozita is 97% meat. I'm interested to see how much other cats eat, especialy if cats do eat less higher quality food.
This is just a money saving question from my point of view, but please chip in with other benefits /problems to consider, like too much dry food and cats not drinking enough water.
Thanks.

Our cat is fully grown and 5kg. I wouldnt dare leave dry food out all the time, she would be eating all her waking moments. She would be 10kg within months. lol
We feed her half a pouch of whiskas on a morning, a handful of dry food lunchtime, the other half pouch teatime and a handful of dry later on. This seems to suit as her weight is constant.
Vet told us always to feed dry food as her last meal so that wet food is not stuck to her teeth all night.
Just leave plenty of fresh water out, they will drink it when they want it. And never give a cat normal milk, it really is bad for their kidneys.
If you havent already, I would suggest pet insurance, vet's bills are high for even the smallest treatment.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
my giz is a bit fussy with wet food, he can eat between 1-3 pouches a day, though it is usally 2, one morning, one at night. He also has biscuits out avail all the time. He's not food orientated, he'll eat a bit, leave, then go back during the day and night.
He's 14mths old.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500 -
My two year-old Girl Cat is a steady 3kg (she looks tiny to me but vet says she's a good weight) ... we feed her half a wet whiskas pouch every morning, plus she has biscuits left out all day which she can nibble on to her hearts content. She gets fresh biscuits early evening. And obviously the opening of the fridge door equates to Treat Time! I rarely see her drink from her water bowl but I do see her drink from puddles, the bird bath and the pond ... Oh, and she'll drink from glasses of water left on tables or by the bed.Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt. So it goes.0

I feed dry food in the morning which is not left out all day - I have measured out the correct amount for the 5 cats, taking into account age, activity levels and weight, and this is what they get. Once it's gone, there is no more food until tea-time, which is always a wet food.
BUT Kittens should have their food left out for them all day - they should eat little and often
The cats range in weight from 3.7kg to 5.6 kg and they get through around 1kg of Royal Canin dry food per week for the 5 of them.
Wet food - 4 of the 5 have Grau mainly, which is expensive but high quality. They have 100g each per meal. I would feed Bozita as I think it's a great food, and all my cats love it, but it does give my Bengals dodgy tummies if fed regularly (the 97% meat content is in the chunks only, btw, not the total contents of the can/pack - there is obviously jelly/gravy which is not 97% meat)
The other cat, Robbie, is a fussy puss when it comes to wet food - he will have a pouch / small tin of whatever he has decided he likes that day to himself. But I make sure he has some wet food as Im conscious of UTIs that can affect male cats in particular, hence why I give in to his little quirks and funny moods (plus, the fact he's cute is on his side :rotfl:)0 -
Tess is 4.10kg & needs to get down to 3.8kg, she was 4.26kg.
She's 14yrs old & has 1 x 85g pouch of JWB Senior in the morning & 20g of JWB Senior dry in the evening0
