Does anyone know if there are grants for Small Businesses hiring graduates (after uni) or students on a year long work placement? I have searched online and there is alot of information but none that really answers my question. Maybe I am just tired and missing it!!!!

There are often industry specific grants for Apprenticeships such as the CITB offering assistance for apprenticeship cots on the construction industry but I've never heard of grants for graduate training. I think you may struggle with this one.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

In the commercial/competitive world you're expected to be viable without state aid by and large. Where there is aid to help get apprentices trained sometimes, a graduate has already had a LOAD of very cheap high-quality training - they should be valuable and employable as they are. Basically, grants are EXTREMELY unlikely as if graduates are not viable employees for businesses, nobody is.0

This will depend on where you are in the country. The Technology Strategy Board offer something called a KTP which allows funded employment of a graduate on a project basis for up to a couple of years.
If you are in the West Mids then there is a project called KEEN run by Wolverhampton Uni that does something similar.0 -
I recently advertised with Job Centre Plus, and today I had an email hoping that my new employee had settled in well, and stating that there was government money available to my business to pay for their training.
frankly, I doubt it, and I haven't yet had time to respond and say "really?" but it seems there is money out there - whether it can be restricted to graduates, and whether it's available to ANY company I couldn't say.Signature removed for peace of mind0
