Stabilisers for a bike suitable 2-5yrs

About a year ago, a close friend very kindly lent us a bike for our daughter as she had a large age gap between her two.

The bike came with stabilisers and our DD rode it from June until last september when we took them off. We think we put the stabilisers in the shed. However when we cleared the shed out and DH held up a bag with stabilisers in. I said "to go" as I thought it was a bag of stabilisers that i got from freecycle years ago and not needed. But it turns out they werent and we have now been faced with the embarrassing situation of apologising to our friends and desperately wanting to replace them.

Since all this our friends have even been kind enough to upgrade our DD to the next size up bike due to their age gap, so they haven't held it against us. But they do want to lend the first bike to their neice who is older than their daughter to learn to ride on.

Although we realised we returned the original bike without stabilisers, none of us 4 adults noticed as our DD only used them for a few months and the bike without them became the norm. We would often go out as two families on bikes etc.

However we have realised our awful error and that we do need to rectify it, i'm wondering what sort of stabiliser to buy and what to go for. Our kids only used stabilisers that came with bikes and not for long as they were off at 3.5 yrs on two wheels.

I want to get this buy/replacement right and make amends with our good friends. They have been very good about it and understand but I do want to feel that I have made the correct choice of replacement.

I hope that all makes sense.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

What would you go for? I've read various review online and the more I research the harder it becomes, negative v postive etc.

I don't want to muck up again by replacing stabilisers with dodgy ones.

how can you have dodgy stabilisers? I really think you might be overthinking this whole thing.
Go to Halfords and ask them for a pair of suitable size stabilisers.

I have to agree there really is not much in it when it comes to stabilisers you should be able to get them cheaply in Halfords or Toys R Us.

I really wouldn't stress about it.

Why don't you ask your friends if they're happy for you to go and buy them, or if they'd prefer to do it themselves and you give them the money for them?

    And don't worry!! :) xx
