After the DRO has ended

Hi all, my DRO has just come to an end and I decided it would probably be a good idea to check my credit report..The accounts are still listed as "default" even though my DRO has ended and I have been 'freed' from my debt. Is this right or should the companies change the status of the accounts on my credit report? I presumed it would be similar to after a bankruptcy period has come to an end and most companies change it to "satisfied or partly satisfied" any answers would be muchly appreciated!

Thanks

Steph :)

How long has it been since your dro finished?

There is a sticky around with a letter to send to the creditors to get them to update the files im on my phone so can't find the link right now but it's mentioned in similar threads

I would suggest 2-3 months to allow the creditors to update files themselves and then get onto the them then! Don't forget to print off your dro file from the Insolvency register as proof your dro has completed as its only there for 3 months after and you won't receive a completion letter from the insolvency service!

    Hope that helps :)

Defaults won't be removed. Debts stay defaulted.

They should just be marked in some way to show they have been satisfied in addition to that.

You follow much the same procedure as in this link.

----> Credit Reference File Clean Up Post Bankruptcy

The principles on correcting the files are the same.

Except that you need to modify the letter to suit a DRO.

For example like the one here ---> https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/44051186#Comment_44051186

  • I'm in exactly the same position, my DRO ended in Aug 12 and all the old accounts are still showing that I owe money on them and are defaulted :( I was looking to see whether I had any new outstanding debts (BAD I know) so I could get those sorted out ASAP. Anyway I will have a look at the letter I can send to creditors. Thanks.
