Well after the numerous requests on how to back up I went back through this thread and realised that we'd taken for granted people would understand it and there wasn't a basic instruction/explanation guide. So that's why I haven't answered people's posts on here about it. It's such a huge subject I decided to write a guide instead. It still needs work on it but at least there's a starting point now."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Superscaper thanks for that I have saved it and will go through it, but after a quick look re emails, I use incredimail and have found that on previous occasions of pc crashing , updating etc, all emails were lost, can you tell me how (if possible) to back up when using incredimail.
thanks in advance!

I found this webpage with a guide to backing up and restoring Incredimail email, contacts and data. http://email.about.com/cs/incredimailtips/qt/et111002.htm
I'll add it to the thread (never used Incredimail myself and there's bound to be others I could add as well)."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I've never backed up (2 year old PC)
I wouldn't know what or where to start. Magazines like PC answers sometimes have features dedicated to this kind of stuff, but it's way above my head.
Tell a lie, I do burn a few things to dvd - My Gamewallpapers collection, artwork, mp3s, that kind of thing. But once you start talking system files and drivers...I'm lostSealed Pot Challenge 15 #78

Takes time but it is worth the effort.0 -
I have read the thread but am still confused. I have Windows XP.
I hadn't backed up before, but almost lost everything, so then copied all my Word documents and precious photos onto CDs. There isn't anything else that I want to save, apart from emails but don't know how to do that.
Is that ok?
I don't understand how I do it another way.A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0 -

My son showed me another way - get a USB Flash Pen Drive. It takes minutes. Here is a link to EBay shop which sells a 4 GB storage one. This will take all your photos etc. and has a storage life of 10 years, for under £10. That's about 14 CD's worth:-"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0
