hi there

i have just reformatted my win 7 machine, but forgot to back up my iTunes library, however i still have my music on my ipod.

if i reinstall itunes and plug my ipod back in , would it copy the songs back to the library and keep them on my ipod, or could it delete them when i start to put music back in my library from cd and ten upload them to the ipod?.

If i remember rightly you can only sync from PC > I*** not from I****> PC.

Reinstall Itunes log in. Go to Store and under quick links on the right hand side select purchases and All.

You should be able to re-download any purchased music etc. But i think this is a one time/ very limited thing.

As too the last part of your question, if you repopulate your Itunes library from CD and the above method and sync it will replace everything on your Ipod with the library, anything on the Ipod not in the library will be lost i think.

The only way around this is if Itunes manages Ipods the same as Iphone i only own the later.
When you connect your Ipod, select it in Itunes under devices and under options you want to make sure "Manually manage music and videos" is checked if that option is there.

Do not SYNC, SYNC is bad. This option will allow you to manually drag your Itunes Library files across to the connected device, so you will not replace your Ipod files like a SYNC would.
