Any government worth it's metal would have made it illegal to strike during the Olympics.

I really don't see why the Olympics should be sacrosanct. There are large swathes of this country who don't care and are not interested.

    Once more London centric.

I was very surprised to see lots of signs of the Olypmics in Edinburgh. Anyway regardless of the sports side of the Olympics it is hugely important as a showcase of the country for commerce and tourism. It's too important to allow a few greedy people to hold the country at ransom.

The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has offered £8.3m in a bid to avert a planned bus strike in London, mayor Boris Johnson has said.

Unite union members plan to strike for 24 hours on Friday, demanding a £500 bonus for working during the Games.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-18523781

The £8.3m is in addition to £91m the ODA gave to TfL to cover the additional costs of running extra services during the Olympics, including bonus pay deals agreed with train workers.

Deals have been announced giving workers at Heathrow Express £700, Network Rail £500, Docklands Light Railway £900, London Overground £600 and London Underground at least £850, said Unite.

Unite estimates it would cost £14m to provide a £500 bonus for every bus driver.

.......all this austerity is fun (for some )

its better value for money than 2 or 3 bankers annual bonuses i reckon

you state the word greedy ,are you saying they would go on strike for a non financail gain which is what you relate too as you disagree with the strike action which has nothing to do with greedy except the financail bonus ?? i cannot relate the word greedy to anything else other than the financail bonus they will be getting paid !

There is a big difference between negotiating a bonus and going on strike. Maybe greed was the wrong word, how about selfish?
