Selling some 2nd hand Lorries & Trucks

Don't know if this is the right category to put this in, but I have a relative who wants to sell all his trucks and lorries which he has kept from an old business. He has about 8 all in working order.

Does anyone have any suggestions on best how to sell them. Someone has said put them in Truck & Plant trader magazine but it seems very expensive to advertise there.

Thanks in avance

www.pistonheads.com does some big stuff. Might be worth a look although I'm not sure how big the audience is...

What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

Chuck them in to the large vehicle auctions.

Thanks, it does look though if this website just specialises in motors rather than trucks & lorries
  • Lorries between 10 and 12 years old aren't going to be worth a fortune, mainly due to the emmission rating of the engine.

For instance, very few vehicles over 5 years old can enter London, without being clobbered for a £200 (daily) charge. Aftermarket exhausts are available to clean them up, but prices start at around £4000.

    Yep, £4000.

It really depends on the actual models. Are the Fodens in good condition? Try an advert in a Classic commercial vehicle magazine.

As for the Dafs, they have been the biggest selling manufacturer of lorries in the UK since I can remember. If they are fleet spec, consider breaking them for parts.

It does but if you look in classifieds there is a 'big stuff' tab with lorries etc.

I think it might be free for those so can't hurt.

Likewise Gumtree. Ok it's a bit of a shot in the dark but it might work and once you've written the ad it is easy to cut and paste to different sites.

There are companies that buy old wagons to send overseas.

10 year old trucks are worthless in this country. I've driven ones used just for shunting trailers around a yard newer than that.

Depends what they are. Bodied lutons and the like will be converted into horse boxes, chassis cabs are good bases for cheap recoveries/transporters.
