PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Rent a Room - Questions to ask potential housemate
Comments
-
Questions I would ask:
Have you ever cut off a horses head and left it in someone's bed?
Have you ever been convicted of any acts of random violence?
Are you known by a females name at the weekends?
Do you think it's acceptable to have relations with farm animals?
What answers would you prefer to hear?A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Also ask them their work and shift pattern. Any late nights or early mornings? Think about noise coming in and leaving. Also think about bathroom timings, showering etc unless either you or the lodger has the exclusive use of a bathroom. Could be a major inconvenience if you only have one BR and your timings cash in the morning.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

Ask for references if they have ever rented/house shared before.
A genuine reference is worth 100 "answers that you want to hear"0 -
Easily faked.Ask for references if they have ever rented/house shared before.
Plus if you get someone who has shared with friends, colleagues or acquaintances you aren't going to get a true reference even if their former house share broke up because people decided to move in with partners.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
