Mortgages for Forces

I'm posting this in the hope it will be of use to someone.
We own a house (with mortgage) but live in MQ due to 'the job' and had been letting our house, with consent to let. The current fixed rate is soon up and current lender had told us we'd only be able to get a Buy to Let (more expensive than many repayment mortgages).
Having posted on the Mortgage board, replied to by Senior Paper Monitor, I contacted her (there's a link to her homepage under her username) and she kindly advised me of a high street bank who would let us have a normal residential mortgage, with tenants in situ, so that is what we've gone for, have spoken to the bank and it's all go. Apparently there are a few lenders that will do this for forces.
It's going to save us hundreds of pounds a year compared to the Buy to Let we were looking at, so kudos (and thanks) to Senior Paper Monitor and I hope this info helps someone else.
