Olympic torch relay

Frankly the whole torch thing is a con. It departs one town and arrives less than an hour later 30 miles away. Even Speedy Gonzales couldn't run that fast!Adolf Hitler would turn in his grave (if he had one) if he knew what the Allies had done to his beloved idea.

Torch went thru Bangor then on to who gives a toss over here...Like the bleedin Titanic thingy opening here in NI,It's an over publicised non event that is a waste of money,money that could be put to better use...

What is the torch/Olympics to do with a bunch of sponsors? It is helping pay for the games! The torch tour is part of the perceived value to the sponsors, and those trucks etc stop daily to hold a free concert around the country. Fact is it probably does bring some benefit to the local shops etc., and costs the public purse nothing to put on.

I'm pretty much anti-Olympics but I did go see the relay through my town so I could talk about it when I'm old and doddery.

I've got to say, it was pretty awesome. The entire town came out, everyone came together and the atmosphere was great.

Yeah it took ages, but they do pretty good considering the amount of organising it must take to get the torch round the entire uk!

As for the sponsors, blatant advertising DUH. what did you expect? They pay for the game. Do you complain about the fact a sponsor advert is shown before 90% of tv programs? Do you complain that footballers have sponsor logos on their shirts?
No reason to wind yourself up about it.
