Squirrels - feel like giving up!

I think it's something very specific to this year - my parents report the exact same thing after always having minor problems. Now they are losing strawberries and other fruit as soon as they start to appear and nothing seems safe!0

Apparently they taste nice though!
My local pub used to cook them, the Council gave him permission to shoot them on the adjacent nature reserve, he then cooked & sold them as part of the pub lunch menu
It worked out cheaper for the Council, and our Tax as once trapped they needed a Vet to kill them
Never tried them myselfEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I think shooting them is the only way, before they next decide to come into your property.
We were infested with them once and they caused lots of damage. They got into our roof and started gnawing through electric cables and anything else they could find. They gnawed through the bargeboards on our property to get in and also set off our alarm many times by chewing through the cables.
In the end my husband shot them with his air rifle. It was either them or our home.0 -
my dad never minded the squirrels but when they started munching his strawberries he got his air rifle out. You can only shoot them if they are on your property though not if they are on your fence (because if you miss the pellet goes out of your property, provided you do that it's perfectly legal as they are classed as vermin. If you have the guts you could cook em. My dad puts his in the wheelie bin though. Maybe he should leave them dead in the garden as a warning to the rest of em!0
