There is only a small window where it would show on the test, mine came back negative but 5 years on I'm still feeling the effects. The worst thing you can do is push yourself, take it easy, sleep as much as your body wants, and drink lucozade.

Chat to your manager or personel after a long absence it is usual in most workplaces to go back parttime and gradually increase your hours and also to offer you work suitable until you are fully fit again.

Hi Rachel - I completely understand your fears re GP. Been there etc.
However, you may well get a Dr who knows his onions and that the GF test can be a bit iffy. Is there any one you would feel comfortable taking with you who can back you up if you get a dud GP? Trouble is with illnesses like GF is you can get a bit tearful in situations like this which makes you feel even more of a weed.
Feeling you are a fraud, or appear to be a fraud is truely awful (been there etc) and fairly typical with GF, the longer it goes on. Hang on to the fact that anyone you meet, here or in RL will totally get how carp you feel right now. You are absolutely a typical case of it, along with the fears a GP won't get how bad/exhausted you feel.

Its made me so happy reading all the posts on here (because I realise I'm not alone!!), I had GF when I was 15, i'm now 23 and ever since I pick up every bug flu cold going and always quite tired.

Each time I've mentioned it to my doctor they look at my as if I am stupid :|

Thanks for all the continuing messages of support. I think i'll write down a list of points to raise with the GP I see. Tearfulness is definately true! I've mentioned to my manager that once i'm well enough to return, i'll more than likely need a phased return but that didn't seem to be too well received., How long have other people ended up off work for?

Hope all goes well with GP visit Rachel. I think it should be mandatory that every GP has a bout of GF ;). My initial visit wasto be told 'oh it's only a mild form, nothing to do, don't listen to the horror stories, it's not as bad a people say etc '

WHAT!! I've had to close my business. I'm 56 yrs old, had poor health and was underweight before GF. I have 10 yrs before I get a pension. Cannot imagine how I'll be bringing in an income ever again.

I've been blubbing today. I have fears my BF will get fed up with me.

You really don't need to feel pressured RAchel to go back to work do you? I really advise you to be true to yourself and listen to your body. It's the only one you've got and we get no reward for half killing ourselves to please others. Scary, I know when it involves our livelihood. Keep the mindfullness going. Be strong.

My blood result are negative. Don't know whether to laugh or cry. Had another relapse over the w/e and feel very unwell and glandy. In the 6th week of this. Will this ever end.

Do hope you are improving Rachel.

I have ME and the symptoms are exactly the same. Good luck with getting any sense out of your gp though... Rest rest rest and rest. Even when you're ready to scream and throw stuff. It's a horrible thing pet, but there are worse illnesses out there xxx

Had actually read before about a possible link with getting GF then it causing ME. Was gonna mention it earlier, but didn't want to scare anyone!

Did you have GF in the past before being diagnosed with ME? Trouble is, GF is often not showing in blood tests by the time people are tested... hmmm.

My gp told me about the link and said I have GF antibodies in my bloodstream so I have had it at some point but I don't know when.
