Halifax to HSBC & Barclays transfers... How long?

I went into my halifax store on monday (today being thursday) to transfer money into my hsbc and barlcays account (only small amounts) how long should this take to show up on my online banking with todays technology?

Depends how you asked it to be transferred, but I'd expect about 3 days in a branch. So should complete by end of business today.

If your going to do this regularly then I'd suggest online banking, which would have it completed typically within the hour, but definitely by the end of the next working day (so end of Tuesday would be guaranteed, but more likely by end of business on Monday).

Thanks, still no payment this morning though starting to wonder where it has gone!
not registered for online banking with my HALIFAX acc and dont have the card anyway as im waiting for the bank to send me a new one after a cash machine swallowed mine!

CHAPS is a same day bank transfer service that they charge you £25 for.

Other than that, I'm not aware of any Halifax branch service that would transfer money to another bank.

They could charge you £20 and give you a bankers draft to walk round yourself. Or you could go online and initiate the transfer yourself via an instant Faster Payment.

Have they actually taken any money out of your account?

Hmmm.

Mum has a Halifax Reward account and when she transfers money into my Barclays Cash Card account it goes through instantly - even the first time it did. opinions4u is quite right - check your balance.

yes its left my halifax and isnt in halifax or hsbc....
they keep saying it will be there at the end of the working day and that its caught up in the whole RBS/natwest thing? but i thought RBS and halifax werent linked?
