Broken iPhone 3GS Screen and Natwest Gold Account Insurance - advice?

Hello,

Quick one, I have an iPhone 3GS and the screen took a knock last week. I'm going into Natwest today to ask what can be done about it. Thing is, I can't warrant the grief and excess charge for a new phone so I'm wondering if anyone knows if they will repair the screen on the insurance for cheaper?

I know I should dig my T+C letter out but not had a chance yet. I've read some horror stories (on here there's a few) about misleading terms so I'm a bit worried.

Not really up for DIYing it with a kit either in case I !!!!!! it up. Apple products are a nightmare for fixing, I I broke my old iPod completely on some online advice to fix the jack input. Pop it open with a credit card they said, as soon as I used the slightest force the screen shattered!

Any advice on the best, easiest and cheapest way to fix it would be great! Thank you.

Lots of places will change the screen. £30-50. Doesn't warrant a new phone.
    June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving

    July challenge £50 a day. £ 1682.50/1550

    October challenge £100 a day. £385/£3100

    Hi pleasedelete (odd name!)

I know I can do that and it may be the route I have to go down but I'm wondering if there's a way to do it on my Natwest phone insurance? Call me stubborn but when I'm paying out £30 a month on Gold membership inc. phone and other insurance (a lot of my camera gear is insured with them) I'd like to know it's worth it and I can cash my chips in if you know what I mean! Escpecially when you think I've paid more out over the last year than the phone itself is worth!

As there is a £25 excess to pay, it doesn't look worth having a claim on your record (esp if you can get it fixed for £30!)

Call them up, they will either:

    - ask for the phone to be sent to them, they then send you a cheque.

    or

    - ask you to take it to an apple store, pay £139 for a replacement (new) phone. You send the receipt to them and they pay it into your account.

I did the latter when I smashed my screen to bits. Very quick - just 7-10 days from the break. HOWEVER, you have just 48 hours I believe from the incident to report it.

If I'd known I could get it fixed for £30 I would have done that, but I've never been asked to declare the claim on any other insurance (although I always volunteer it, just incase:o).

How can they prove when it was smashed?!

Does the screen effect no claims then? I was hoping it was like car insurance when window replacement doesn't effect it!
