One mobile handset with two different numbers?

I have posted this in the mobile section but thought I'd post my query here, too.
Are there any mobile phone operator tariffs, or adaptors or multi/dual sims or handsets that would enable me to run two telephone numbers from a single mobile phone handset?
I want to run my business from one line and make personal calls on another line but don't want two handsets.
thanks

There are 2 ways - 1 sim with 2 numbers (through your mobile provide, not very common, probably rather expensive) and 2 sims. Most domestic Chinese phones have dual-sim slots built in, although the build quality varies wildly and the UI may be horrible. You can get sim adaptors where you trim your two sim cards to more or less the size of the contacts, then use that in your normal phone. Problem is you have to keep telling the phone which sim is active.
Whatever you try, bear in mind most dual-sim options require you to switch between sims - so if your phone is on your personal line sim, business line calls go to voicemail.
Easiest and most rugged and enduring solution is to get a second handset for a few quid!0 -

Thanks for everybody's replies. Got a lot to think about and a bit more research to do.
I know the two handset approach is a simple solution, plus I get to have an iphone rather than some clunky dual sim phone, but it was originally my least preferred option. I'll have a bit more of a think about it.0 -
I've one of these....

Works perfectly for me as i've a personal and a business sim.
There are fancier versions available on both play and amazon - just search for samsung duos.
Great little phones. You can have separate ring tones and separate screen displays per sim, you can have both on or one off or two off. You can switch between the two sims by holding down the '#' key for dialling out.
Also, BOTH sims are active at the same time - the only time thats not true is if you are on a call - then the other goes to voice mail.0 -
Way back in the days when mobile networks cared about you, Orange had a 2nd line function on all its phones. They binned that a couple of years ago.
Samsung has some dual SIM phones but not usually aimed at the UK market. Available online though.0 -
On the iphone there is an app called sipgate or search for them online and ask them for the app. It will give yo a landline and as long as yo have internet on the phone then calls will come in. Very handy and voicemails come to via email only thing to watch for is having to have a tarrif that gives constant net access, otherwise its perfect0
