What to put on next Cambridge oak furniture

Ive had solid oak furniture for a few years now and never waxed it/oiled it, could someone please recommend what to put on it that would preferably be dry to the touch so that ornaments/kids fingers etc won't mark it after its been done. Also, would I just wash it first with soapy water to remove any slight marks/stains that have occured since it was new?Thanks in advance.

Look at the Silkolene site. They do a fab matt varnish that only darkens it down a smidge. As with all of these things test an area first however.

If it were my oak furniture I would use 000 grade wire wool to cut back the surface.
Then wipe clean with white spirit .
Then finish with at least three coats of danish oil.

It depends what the current finish is. Have you asked the manufacturer?.

Tony. I agree Danish oil looks lovely but it is high maintenance. As teh OP referred to kids I took it to mean they prob wanted less work!

Hi: we use Osmo products..indoors and out.
