Hi there - I'm new to this site and have found it very informative in making PPI claims to Marks, Halifax and GE Capital. I also had several loans with Barclays Bank in the late 1990s but cannot find my loan agreements. I sent them the SAR letter + a £10 cheque and they replied sending me only 6 years of statements (which I already have). I'm asking if anyone has had any success in getting their details beyond 6 years from Barclays and is there is another letter I can send to them. I'm determined not to give this claim up. Thanks

If they only hold records for 6 years then there is no other way unless you use your own records.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Thanks - but I've only got paperwork going back since 2003, that's why I was able to give correct details to Marks, GE Capital and Halifax. Do you know if there are any credit check companies that keep records longer than 6 years? If they only hold records for 6 years then there is no other way unless you use your own records.0

It would be a data protection breach for them to hold the sort of data you need. So, no.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Since you have no entitlement to such "proof", I wouldn't be holding my breath for their reply!stamford5957 wrote: »I sent them another letter requesting they send me proof that my pre-2006 documents have been destroyed
The only way to ensure they divulge all information they have on you is to request a Subject Access Request (SAR), this is the nearest you'll get to "proof" that any information not disclosed has been destroyed.
As you've already done this, I now think you're wasting your time.0

I wrote requesting this...."I would like you to produce evidence of destruction of these documents certified by a registered data controller within your organisation as is required under the Civil Evidence Act 1995. This acts requires banks and other institutions to keep auditable records on documentation they hold and includes certification of destruction...." I know I know, but you never know.0
