Cash deposit at PO not arrived at Lloyds

I wonder if anyone can help me. I paid in around £40 cash at the post office on 1st Feb 2007 using a personalised paying in slip. I got a reciept from the PO and they stamped the counterfoil.

I realised a couple of weeks ago that this money never arrived. I contacted the PO and they said to speak to my branch. There is no way to contact a LLoyds branch by phone directly. I visited my branch who photocopied the receipt and said they would investigate. A couple of days later I got a letter from the Clearing centre asking me to contact them on a phone no. with the details off the receipt (which the branch already photocopied). I phoned them but got a message that the phone no had changed and was now just a standard call centre contact no.

I waited in the queue and asked to be transfered to the clearing centre and was told that they do not take calls from members of the public. I again twice but got the same response.

I visited my branch who said they had submitted the enquiry and could do little else.

What can I do?
:T Finally debt free and just the mortgage to pay.

Hi,Go to your smallclaims court and submit a claim against the Post Office and LLoyds and claim for everything including aggravation, lost time, travelling, phone calls etc example sollicitors charge upto£40 for a phone call.
Wait a number of weeks and see what happens,
We really need to stamp on these creeps who do this to us and ignoring it only makes it worse as they will try it again and again.
