How long is 'normal' for vendor to find somewhere?

We put an offer that was accepted 5 weeks ago. We aren't in a rush as such. Our mortgage has been offered today for 5 months ending 23rd November.
The vendors still haven't found a house or even offered on anywhere.
We want the house so happy to wait, however if they don't find anywhere how long do the banks normally extend their offer (if at all)??
My partner wants to try and hurry them but I guess they can't be forced into finding somewhere.
What has your experience been?

Get the seller to rent?0

I think I will suggest this if it is for much longer.......0

Could be a week or 2.
Could be 6 months or more.0 -
I'd be concerned that, after 5 weeks, they've probably viewed everything on the market and would be worried that you're either going to be waiting for something new to come onto the market that they like (you could be waiting forever!) or that they might decide not to sell after all. I certainly wouldn't spend any more money on the purchase until they find somewhere.0

i would think 5 weeks was more than enough if they are serious.........0

Our sellers have, to the best of my knowledge, not found anywhere to buy yet (5 weeks after our offer was accepted)... they are looking to move about 200 miles though and have said that they're willing to move into rented accommodation. You were only killing time and it'll kill you right back0

It recently took us about 5 weeks to find a house and another 2-3 weeks to negotiate on the price. We were looking in quite a few different areas so it took a while to see everything on the market. Our buyer waited the whole time and I was very grateful to them. I think if it had taken us much longer we would have had to move into rental or risk losing the sale.0

I think I might need to start viewing before I get an offer on my place. On Rightmove there are over 200 three bed properties within my price range in a one mile radius of where I want to move to! I certainly couldn't look at anywhere near all of them in five weeks. Maybe there's a lot of choice where they are looking.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0

Speak to the agent and ask what the situation is?
Not having found anywhere in 5 weeks might be a sign of a problem. For example, they might be too picky or have unrealistic expectations.
On the other hand there could be a valid reason for it. Maybe they are moving some distance so they can only view weekends.0 -
The have quite a narrow search field (which I know so have been having a cheeky look myself) and nothing new has come on the market.
I guess the only option is give them a few weeks then say rented accom if they can't find anywhere?0
