Buying house in Derby

Hi all,

I was thinking of buying a house in the Derby area.

Does anyone know what are the good and bad areas/places to avoid here?

Thanks.

Comments

  • Have been living in the Derby area on and off for several years now and am in the process of trying to buy first house myself. Obviously it depends what you want from the area i.e. where you work, transport links required etc, but the short of it is that the bad areas are: Chaddesden, Allenton, Normanton, Sunnyhill, Sinfin, Mackworth. Good areas are: Chellaston, Spondon, Mickleover, Littleover, Chester Green, Allestree. There are lots of other areas too but they have a real mix there. As a rule, the bad areas listed above are mostly all fairly bad and the good areas are pretty much all good. Places like Alvaston have a real mix, dependent on whether they are close to Allenton or Normanton (bad) or close to the countryside (Elvaston way). Same with Oakwood.
    Hope that helps.
