Some people just take the pee, especially the cheeky ones, the ones that can't even be bothered to string a sentence together and the ones that spin out a sob story.
I'd give it to someone who was genuine and polite anyday.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I would think anyone with a genuine sob story would not dilvulge it to some stranger. I would automatically assume they are trying to pull the wool over my eyes and will flog it within 10 minutes of collecting it.
Charity shops collect. HAHAHA... GRRRR.
I went to my local heart foundation shop said my dad was clearing out the entire bedroom, All old fashioned solid wood units, Wardrobe dresser, chest of drawers etc. I gave them full details when i booked them.
They turned up and said its too old we cant take that stuff.
Cannot take the bed as the mattress doesnt match. But they were willing to take the virtually new mattress that cost over £400. Strange that. Cannot take the different colour bed but how will they find a bed to match the mattress?
That left us with a problem it had to go that day. No choice but to take it all up the garden and burn the lot. What a waste.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I've recently offered an item on freecycle and have been literally swamped with potential takers. The item does have some value but we need rid of it quickly and so haven't the time to list on ebay or whatever. I cannot believe so many people want this and some of their emails are quite impolite. I suspect they may trawl sites looking for things to obtain free and sell on. Fair enough I guess but I would rather give my item to someone who actually wants it and will get some use out of it themselves. Does anyone know if there is any means of checking out a freecycle user's history, ie, in terms of what they have offered or what they have posted as a want. Basically, I would like to weed out p... takers and give my item to someone who gives as well as takes.0

If you are on Freegle you can do a search fairly easily - however the search facility doesn't bring up anything on Freecycle
If you have all the email notifications I guess you could do it that way, but I don't have any email notifications and just use the main board
my 'problem' is that I tend to offer on Freegle, but do keep an eye out on Freecycle - it therefore looks like I don't offer anything (or very little) but I offer lots it just goes on Freegle (which is a lot less grabby in my area)0 -
Thanks Splashy. I've found one reply which is polite and seems genuine so I'm giving the item to that person. I think your description of freecycle as "grabby" generally sums it up. I don't think I'll offer anything on there again.0
