Hi All
I just have a quick question regarding transferring money.
My dad is a Lloyds Tsb customer and would like to transfer ten thousand pounds into my mums co-operative bank account.
He is going into branch Friday to do this.
He would like to know is the money available straight away if the transaction is done in branch? He doesnt do Internet banking either.
Many thanks for any help

I assume that, similar to if he was just lifting the cash for himself, he would need to ring ahead to ensure the cash was available in the branch.Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0

Thank you for the reply.
He just wants to transfer it straight from his account into my mums account. So he doesn't want to take any money out over the counter. He would like to know if he transfers the money from his account into hers, is the transaction instant?0 -
I'd be surprised if they do real-time transactions at the counter. When you do it online, you have to sit and wait while a timer thingy ticks round, and then you get a message which often says they aren't sure if it worked or not. Then you have to check back later to try to figure out what's happened. Not really suitable for a counter service.
If they do it overnight, it's reliable, because then it's the night shift's job to keep trying till it works.
Overnight could mean Friday to Monday."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -
If the transfer is between two 'payment accounts' (ie current accounts) and is done during normal branch hours then the money should be there withing 2 hours. Otherwise it has to be there by the end of the following working day - ie monday night.

, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.0 -
He has an appointment with the branch manager to sort it out. Dont know if this makes a difference. Sorry I should have stated he had an appointment0

Afaik lloyds don't offer in branch faster payments, so the only way of it getting there on the same day is to send a CHAPs payment. This will cost £25 - £30.0

Do it via online banking. Free. Usually instant.0
-
But he doesn't have online banking, so needs to visit the branch, or setup telephone banking.0

If the Lloyds online banking setup is anything like the bos setup, then internet banking can be applied for and access given within a matter of minutes.0
