My dodgy dentist

Well would you believe it! Nearly died of shock reading this. This is my dentist who I have complained about on here who was very rough and brusque. I also used him as an example only recently when a patient was in complaining about the way he treated her and the receptionist said "He's a man." and then added "I do know he has some personal problems" and the patient said "we all have those but just have to carry on." :D:D:D

I know Toothsmith always says go on personal recommendation and check the place out before your appointment. I have always argued that this often doesn't help at all and they can be as nice & smiley as they like when you go for a look around - it's when you're in the chair that matters!;)

He's also the dentist who told me I should have a scale & polish but said I had to pay £45 to see the hygienist privately.

    I can top your £26,000 fraud..........by my ex NHS dentist's £600,000 fraud!!!!!!!:eek::

When I was his patient I had no idea that he was robbing the NHS blind. The first I heard about it was an official letter landing on my doormat, telling me that I was going to be helped to find another NHS dentist.

Weeks later I watched the news coverage with shock and disbelief.

Whoah! That is serious money!! My gut feeling in the case of "my dentist" is that this will be just the tip of the iceberg actually. The offences he is accused of took place at his previous practice - he is now in Norfolk and I have felt uneasy about things on several occasions and have mentioned them on here. I usually keep all paperwork so I'm going to go back through it because I am sure he didn't use an official stamp on some of it.

I have to say I do notice that the regular dentists on here are very quiet today.:)

Personally I prefer not to comment on an ongoing court case as I believe cases should be tried in a court of law where all the facts are available and not in the media or on a forum where not all the facts are available.

In the end two people are facing a lengthy jail sentence, the loss of their careers , businesses, homes and possibly marriages. If they are proven guilty in a court of law we rightly expect professionals to live by high standards and punish accordingly but when the stakes are so high it is right justice is served in court and not by speculation whilst the court case is ongoing.

In the meantime I intend to continue posting where useful.

You answered your own question within your post.

Want to know what the dentist is like, ask the receptionists.

I had a really brutal, brusque lady dentist. I had some teeth out and changed dentist within the practice immediately. She didnt last at the practice more than a month, numerous complaints had been made. I asked the receptionist what was my new dentist like, lovely, gentle, (and gorgeous) they didnt let me down. lol
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Not dentist related but health related......the osteopath we took daughter to see when she was a baby, was jailed for child sexual abuse a couple of years later.

    He came on recommendation.

You just never really know who you are putting your trust in.

Not remotely related to this on going legal case, however I know of dentists accused of "fraudulent" claims where literally the only thing they didnt do was tick the box marked "exam" on the claim form and fail to write the word "exam" in their notes. They had done all the work correctly but the PCTs and LHBs wanted to claim some money back so went for them hammer and tongs
