Can't get AHCI to work

IDE mode is what I have been using for my new system already as it worked while AHCI didn't.
- it will work and work perfectly all day long as a slow SATA drive but never as a fast SSD
- if you can't get AHCi to work then a slower 1,000 Gig SATA can be had for the price of a 60Gig SSDDon't have a drive 0 - My lowest one is drive 1 and that is the one I have been using.
- disk 0 or drive 1 or drive P0 ... what I was getting at was the 1st disk on the [low level] BIOS system
- and thus the 1st disk in AHCi and eventually the 1st disk in a [high level] operating system
- also why I said with in #8 virgin install Win7 64 with only your SSD connected no other drives or partitions for nowI think I must have got my definitions mixed up as I just assumed any install which is not an upgrade and is installed in to it's own partition alone is a clean one.
I only have the one hard drive at the moment and although it is hosting both op systems, they are on separate partitions so should not interfere with each other. In any case, when I tried booting off the windows 7 installation dvd this failed in ahci mode as well so I am doubting the fault lies with having two op systems connected to the motherboard as the dvd drive was the sole drive connected to it.
thor my friend forget your toys for the moment, just do as suggested and get your MOBO / BIOS / SSD to work with all the other stuff pulled off - its just cable M8 - you pull em off and plug em in later - no biggie.
REM: a clean install is not part of any dual anything ! get the SSD working correctly on AHCi in Win7 and the group will show you how to get the other O/S's multi-booting later.
