Plumbing/Pipework Insurance

Hello, I have had insurance for a number of months/years with Homeserve for Plumbing and Drainage Cover. Naively I have not reviewed the cover but have been paying circa £25 a quarter for the privelage.
I am going to cancel it as I have only recently discovered that what I am paying for and I am already insured for via my house hold insurance.
I know however that Homeserve are under investigation for miss selling by the FSA and I wondered if it was worth maintaining the cover, as im sure I will have a claim for compensation or do you think I have been silly enough and should cancel the policy right now to limit any costs incurred? Would I be entitled to anything if there was a case brought against Homeserve whether I had a current policy or an old one? My premiums are due at the end of June for the quarter and any advice would be appreciated.
Kind regards
Paul

Difficult to say for sure but I very much doubt it. Its not the sort of policy I would generally actively seek out. I am fairly sure it would have been some marketing literature or something similar that I would have reacted to.0

a lot of their misselling was down to not advising customers there was a £50 excess on their policies. does yours have an excess?Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0 -
Check what the house insurance policy covers you for.
Some policies cover accidental damage to underground, pipes, cables, drains eg if you were digging in your garden or into the driveway and damaged something you would be covered.
The Homeserve policy may cover other things that you home insurance does not cover- eg a blocked pipe.
If you have Home Emergency / Protection with your household policy it may cover such incidents (some only cover issues within the home and not outside pipework).
You need to check the policy documents for all the insurance that you have to see if you have the cover that you want.
If your house insurance covers all the things that Homeserve cover (they told you otherwise) and you feel that they have missold you the policy I would ring to complain and put it in writing to them straight away.
If they are under investigation for this type of thing then your complaint will be on the record.0
