Multi car insurance with First Alternative

Hi all,
I have my car insured with First Alternative (who I think are part of esure). The wife is a named driver on the policy.
I want to get a second car and ideally insure the wife as a first driver on that so she can start earning her own NCB (she has never been insured under her own policy before so has none).
Now, First Alternative have some sort of deal where they give you 3 years NCB on any second car you insure with them.
The catch is that the policy has to be under my name so the wife won't earn any NCB.
I did call them up and last week I got an answer of 'yes the policy has to be under y our name but after 1 year you can change it to be under the wife's name and she will get the 3 years NCB transferred to her name'. Now this is brilliant and almost too good to be true so today I called them again to verify this and got told that no I can't change the name and transfer the policy !,,
,
So I am being told conflicting information and now I'm confused. Does anyone know which one it is? And how to best go about saving NCB for the wife?

Whenever sales agents tell you something to your advantage like this over the phone, you should get them to confirm it to you in writing. As you have learnt, they are never around to confirm their promises when you find them not being honoured by a subsequent agent!0

Does she really have to earn NCB? You would end up having two lots of NCB.0

Why not find a company to insure your wife who will give her a starter bonus based on her driving history? Presumably she is not newly qualified? The Company doesn't have to be the same as the one you are using.0

Problem is how do I find such a company? She's been driving for 20 years like me so is not a learner.0
