Adding child temporarily to car insurance

Hi has anybody had any experience of adding a child to your car insurance policy for a short period of time, say a month?.
We want to add our son, he is usually away at University but would like to add him for a some time in the summer when we are on holiday.

So slightly different query than just adding children permanently, it would be just short term.

If so what companies offered best deal ?

Thank you

You need to discuss this requirement with your chosen insurer before buying a policy, as not all insurers are prepared to have young people added as named drivers (also depends on the car you are insuring/young person's age/driving experience/claims history etc at the time they will be covered etc).

Though there is always the possibility they change their attitude towards young drivers between you taking iut a policy and then subsequently wanting to add a temporary young driver.

We have been able to add DD to our policies short term. Some insurers will do it - some won't. It will depend on the group of car, son's age, period licence held, accident's claims convictions etc.

Ring your insurer and ask or alternatively ring your broker - that's what they're there for.
