Return of deposit no contact from landlord

I rented a flat from a private landlord for 2 1/2 years and It was a new build flat. I recently left and gave the months notice and paid correctly. I called him and asked if he could meet to collect keys and he was working so asked if I would take to to his work, he'd then go to flat and be in touch, but there has now been no contact from him it has been a week . I drive past the flat often and noticed windows open so he must have been there. There was some slight damage such as an iron burn on the carpet and usual scuffs and marks on walls so I was expecting I wouldn't get the full deposit back. I can't find the paperwork from the deposit protection agency and thinking about it I don't remember having it, although he did have a written agreement for the tenancy, but no inventory .
What steps should I take if any or should I just say nothing and assume my deposit has paid for carpet and repairs
Thanks in advance

Without the information from the landlord about the deposit-protection scheme to hand, you can still interrogate their databases to check whether it's been protected. The three schemes are DPS, TDS and MyDeposits. You vna then claim your deposit back from the scheme adn the landlord will then need to respond.
Meanwhile stop phoning and contact your ex-landlord in writing. Presumably he has your forwarding address to send you estimates for repairing the damage you have caused.....
An iron burn-mark on a carpet is not "slight damage": the whole hing will need to be replaced, and that together with scuffs and marks on walls which you should have cleaned yourself quite easily in what was a brand-new flat I think you'll be lucky to see much of your money back.0
