Moving internal door

Hi all

I'm right at the beginning of thinking about moving a door that leads in to my living room.
The basic situation is this:

Living room = 4 walls :p

wall 1 has the window and radiator
wall2 has a single normal sized doorway in the middle
wall 3 has a double door in to the dining room
wall 4 has a fireplace/chimney breast with two alcoves

As you can see there is not one complete wall to place furniture against.

I have a couple of options which are to

a) block up the existing door in to the living room and access it through the double doors in the living room although we are thinking one day about opening up the dining room and kitchen and making a kitchen diner.

b) block up existing door and move it to the end of the same wall further down the hallway so that there is some wall space

or

c) move existing door and also block up double doors making two walls more usable.

The main reason for this is because at the moment our furniture is place towards the middle of the room and doesnt give much room for manouveur.

My questions are:

Does anyone have any idea what kind of work/how long it takes to do move a doorway? The wall in question that the single doorway in on is a supporting wall i believe although most of the walls upstairs seem to sit on joists as they dont totally match up to walls downstairs.

out of those 3 options what would be most inclined to do if you were me? I'm also thinking about what the value of two entrances are to a room especially when thinking about re-sale value.

My house is a 1930's semi-detached. Sorry, you may not have info to really form an opinion but thought i would give it a try! ;)

Thanks

Blocking up a door way is an easy job, probably well worth diy for the cost of a bit of timber and plasterboard.

New door in a load bearing wall is also straightforward but as it involves putting a lintel above personally I would get a builder in but, providing there is no pipework to move out of the way etc you are probably looking at a couple of hundred quid (and a lot of dust) You may also need to go through your local building control

Personally, if you don't need a particular doorway then I would just block it up
