  • If you can't even get your basic facts right, why bother posting in the first place.

I did post the link and I did point out there are 7 million people without a BBC TV Licence. Now the BBC send those people one letter every month, a threatogram..................work it out

Why do you assume that everyone without a TV licence gets a letter every month

I don't have a licence as I work away from the UK a fair bit (but still have a house in the UK), and I haven't had a letter or reminder for well over 3 years.

Instead of trying to justify your figures, why not simply admit that you made an error and the number of letters sent each year is only a fraction of the 85 million that you claimed.

The figures below are the most recent ones to be released, so unless you have information that no one else has, it must be that you are simply guessing or picking figures out of thin air.

How many reminder letters has TV Licensing sent over the last four years?

The number of letters classed as reminder letters sent between 1 January 2009
and 31 December 2009 was approximately 7,752,366. The number of reminder letters
sent in previous financial years is shown below:

    • 2005/06: 9,704,619
      2006/07: 8,629,874
      2007/08: 7,528,901

Why trying to defend them so much then?

    I've made no error,
It has sent out a staggering 85million warning letters — dubbed “threatograms”

Oh now come on, he could not even answer a simple YES or NO question, what are the chances?? ;)

Can you imagine 85 MILLION letters in one Year, with a UK population of 62 Million people where a large volume already have a licence?

It would seem quite a lot of people got a humongous collection of the same letter posted through their door. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

If you are going to post something, at least have the decency to post all of the paragraph and not just half of it
THE BBC was blasted last night for spending £13.5MILLION on chasing unpaid licence fees over the past four years.
It has sent out a staggering 85million warning letters — dubbed
    “threatograms”.
Why trying to defend them so much then?

    So much?
I've made one post stating that I have not received a reminder letter in just under 3 years.
This is because I wrote to TVL informing them that my house was vacant for most of the year and that they were welcome to send someone to confirm this fact.
They replied stating that a note had been added to my address record to show this.

Why should the public feel they have to allow complete strangers into their houses. Do you think its right that the BBC think everyone without a BBC TV Licence should be treated as guilty until they say otherwise?

Also someone is lying either you or BBC TV Licensing because they start the threats again 2yrs after and you claim to have been left alone 3yrs

My apologies seems you were right, its 83 million letters a year and not 85 million

    Direct Communications
    22.
TV Licensing sends around 83 million letters a year to households in the UK including payment reminders, Direct Debit statements and enforcement notices. They account for the main source of interaction between TV Licensing and licence fee payers and therefore play a key part in the public’s perception of TV Licensing.

83 million mailings not 83 million enforcement letters as you still keep trying to claim (and keep failing to prove).
This figure of 83 million is the total number of letters they sent out and whilst it does include enforcement letters, it also includes direct debit statements and payment reminders amongst other things.

Also someone is lying either you or BBC TV Licensing because they start the threats again 2yrs after and you claim to have been left alone 3yrs

My last licence expired in April 2009 and I cancelled my direct debit shortly before this time.
I then received a renewal reminder which is when I wrote to TVL to inform them that my property would be empty and mostly unfurnished for the foreseeable future.
This is when they wrote to me to inform me that a note would be added to my details for a period of 2 years from the time it was confirmed that I did not need a licence, which may involve an inspector visiting.

Despite this, no one called and since then I have not received any further mailings from TVL despite this two year period having long passed.
Someone may well have visited my house but if they did, it would be fairly apparent that it was unoccupied and the only people there would be the occasional builder.

    Keep trying Safordian.
Your hole is just getting deeper and deeper with each post, but you may eventually find something to back up your opinion without needing to misquote from newspapers and TVL documents.

Seems to me you aren't going to leave this even when the BBC Trust tell you there are 83 million letters

Mail is mail and it is all paid for by the TV Licence!

I don't doubt you. I just find it strange that someone would spend so much time doing this if they don't even have one

But you did say you've heard nothing for 3yrs which is very odd for them

You are a very lucky guy and he BBC are lucky to have people around defending them who don't apparently need a TV Licence.
    Keep trying Safordian.

Keep trying what, do you think what they did with the OP was a game?

There is clearly something not right here. The "game" and now "hole" comments are showing you are the one messing around here.

I mean why mention opinion when I give you evidence from the BBC Trust. Seriously think what you are typing
