Bank charges pushing up debt...

Hi
I have 3 unauthorised overdrafts ranging from 10years to 3years ago. I have put off paying them off as i havent been in the financial position to sort them out. I am now!
The one question i have is... I am completely 100% positive that they are all due to banks adding charges and charges to the account after i went into the initial unauthorised overdraft (usually only by a small amount)... I have no problem paying the amount off that i went overdrawn by but i am loathed to pay them back the bank charges.
Obviously i cant ask them to pay me the bank charges as i didnt pay them! But im wondering whether i can still request a copy of all my statements from each bank and advise them i wont be paying my charges which went on for months and months at £25 a time in some instances...
Can anyone advise me please?!

Yes you can ask your bank for copies of all your statements. I'm not sure if they will still have ones over 6 years old, but ask for them all and see what they say.
Note that many banks typically charge about £10 per copy statement supplied, so it might be quite expensive if they supply you all of them! :eek:0 -
Blimey i forgot about the £10 charge for statements!
Will call them and see... It would be so much easier to get them to do it!

Don't ask for statements specifically or it will cost too much.
Write a data protection SAR letter, see on here for template,
and you should get copy statements with lots of other data.
