My Humax box (which is usually great) has failed me! The box will not record. It does continue as a freeview box and has retained the library.

I have looked at the troubleshoots in the user guide and contacted Humax tech guys who have gone through a few fixes and emailed some instructions to make sure the channels are manually configured. I have tried leaving the box switched off, rebooting and everything else I can think of or follow from the Users Manual.without success. I (and the advice from HUMAX) seem to be left with formatting.

The problem is that as well as the "dross" there are recordings I have kept for a long time and do not want to go.

By chance, a few weeks ago I bought another 9300T.

AND NOW MY QUESTION!

Can I transfer (save) the recordings I want to keep (or indeed the whole contents) to the new HUMAX or a computer before I format the original box?

Possibly you can hook up a DVD recorder to your Humax / TV set up and play your recordings and simultaneously record to the DVD player . Bit of a slow process though and you would have to buy a DVD player (not cheap).

Or maybe you could take the unit to a PC repair man who could access the hard drive and transfer the files to DVD or portable hard drive.

If the new Humax recognises the old Humax as a channel you may be able to re-record the programmes.

    Ask here http://myhumax.org/

If the new box will record from an AV/SCART/HDMI input, then connect an AV/SCART/HDMI output from the old box to the new, click Record on the new, and Play on the old.

This will have to be done in real time, of course.

Or get a DVD recorder and do the same in real time.

Thanks, I have registered and posted with Humax.org and will keep my fingers crossed. I guess I am hoping there is a way without doing individual programmes in "real time"
