NatWest/RBS 18 month 0% Interest Offer

Options
Hi,

Apologies if there is already a thread on this.

I recently applied for the RBS YourPoints credit card.

I got accepted and receieved the pin and card in the post, but to my surpise the 0% interest rate is for 13 months and not 18 months as per the offer?!

Can anyone advise what has happened hee and what i shoud do next?

Thanks.

Give them a call directly to query and quote the 18 month offer details

    I phone RBS regarding this.

Initially they insisted i must have followed the wrong link to the 13 month offer, but I explained tha this was not the case.

They then told me that the only way for me to get the 18 month offer was to cancel the 13 month one and re-apply.

I informed them that I did not want to do that as it could potentially affect my credit rating AND that I was concerned that even if I did do that I would end up back to square one with another 13 month card. They insisted that they couldn't simply change me over to the other offer.

I asked the guy just to cancel it and forget about the whole thing - which he said he could do this immediately, and he then asked would I be re-applying for the 18 month offer. I informed him that I wouldn't be, but that i would be going to Tescos who had a 16 month offer instead.

Funny enough, he was then able to extend the 13 month card I had received to 18 months there and then (even though he previously said I had no other option but to cancel and then re-apply).

I insisted that I get this in writing which he agreed to do!

    Happy days! Good outcome.

I think in the meantime they are away to check out their own links as there is obviously a problem - I would advise others to check the length of the interest free period that it states on their confirmation letter to ensure you have got the right deal, or at least the deal you had applied for!

RBS Credit Cards department are worse than useless. Made a complete mess of my application, they actually carried out three seperate credit searches with different information in each. This happened last August and was only resolved this month - they are removing the searches are compensating me. Really disappointed. I am now leaving them and moving my credit card to First Direct.

    Good result for you :)
