Your claim in NI will close same day, you new office can transfer it in same day should be instant.
As long as NI shut the claim down correctly then there should be no problem.
I cant see why there should be a Delay with DLA or CA, you will still be entitled, you were in NI so why should you not be here.
I.S is paid in arrears so if you move on payday or near, by the time your next payment is due you should be ok... They will have two weeks to sort it,
tip pick up an A2 now keep it to the move, fill it out, day you move phone do your change of address over the phone to establish you are here, then take the A2 in to the local office soon as you can, will cut out some delay0 -
When I moved over here to NI, I was on JSA. I did 2 signings on away from home to seek work forms. The day after the 2nd signing, I went and started the process to claim JSA here. Even doing that, my first payment of JSA here was a couple of days late due to the length of time it took England to fully close my claim there and for it to show as closed on the computer system here in NI. I know that technology has improved and things usually happen quicker but was thinking that benefits might be one thing which still takes a few days for things to show.
As for timings move is likely to be a Tuesday, so I'll get payment the Thursday of that week and hopefully everything will be sorted for the following week. I get the IS every week instead of every fortnight as when I started claiming it, our finances were organised such that we would have struggled on fortnightly payments. Since then I've reorganised our finances so if England won't pay weekly, I'll be able to manage.
Thanks for the tip about A2 form, will ask in jobcentre about it next time I'm in. Only snag with that could be that NI and England have forms specific to whichever you're in. Other alternative is that I ask my parents to get me one from jobcentre in town we're moving to.0 -
things have improved, worse case scenerio would be 24 hours,
I think the forms are the same but not sure, so get your mum to pick one up, she could post if out to you, but remember to fill it in with your new details
You will be paid fortnightly here most cases are now.
but your payday will remain the same0 -
we moved last year(within the uk),there were some delays as it was a different BDC,and council tax housing benefits took some time to sort out(a few weeks)IS was sorted in 2 weeks
my advice would be to try and save as much as you can before you move, and contact the council in advance for the relevant forms0 -
Thanks Mikey, having reorganised finances, fortnightly payments will be ok. Good to know that claim being closed here in NI will show on England's system within 24 hours.
Thanks Woodbine, will try to save as much as I can over the next 4 months. My husband has told me that by law, the benefits office has to help us while processing out claim due to us having children under 5. I might also try to get the middle of month bills changed so they got out towards the end of the month to be safe. I'll have to check but I think the biggest ones are end/beginning of month.0
