Is there anything that looks like red brick dust? maybe around some air bricks? Have a look at air bricks from the outside.I am the Cat who walks alone0

found this when i looked further....
do you think it's serious? ie enough to cause a health concern? there are a few of these blocks with such mould in the basement (they are in the ceiling, above them is a garden patio)0 -
Looks more like rust staining from something metal that has stood there, in damp conditions.i have been clearing the basement of a house i am in, and was wondering if this was mould ?

The other picture looks like damp/mould and something that needs investigating from above to see how the ground level is sealed and what further ingress there is int the house generally.
Does soil sit up against these blocks on the outside?
In the short term I wouldn't worry about personal health, give it a wash down with bleach solution."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Totally, IMHO, a lack of air movement. Damp air collecting at highest point. Decent fan system will sort it I feel. All together now, "Always look on the bright side of life..." :whistle:0
