scrap or repair?
A driver went into the back of my car and so I made a claim. They have offered to repair it but I'm tempted to scrap it as I think it would cost more to repair and supply a hire car. Should I get the choice or are the insurance companies thinking more of getting their cut from the repair?

if insurance company are going to repair it why would you want to scrap it?
its obviously for them to get it repaired at their ludicrous glasses rates cheaper than give you a hire car for the duration of...........0 -
Usually insurers won't pay for any uneconomical repairs, though sometimes when dealing with a third party insurer, they don't take into account the cost of a hire car when making that decision.
If they are repairing it, the cost of the actual repair must be considerably less than the write off value.0 -
Dented rear door and bumper and may have pushed in boot floor slightly as boot does not open easily at the moment, car is 11 years old and worth £800-1000max. Giving 3.8 days repair time car hire will be 6/7days. Car is due MOT and needs a couple of new parts and a service so may be better to spend on newer car0
