Refunding the difference if cheaper...

in Credit cards
Good morning all,
Wonder if anyone can help.
I brought a computer from a retail outlet in Croydon using my Natwest charge card. I paid £599 inc.
This was on the 10th March 07.
Today I saw the same item at the same retail outlet selling it for £549 inc.
Is there a way of getting the £50 back from anywhere? I.e Natwest?
The terms of the sale state that if I change my mind to bring anyting back they reserve the right to charge a 15% restocking fee.

The only time you can "legitimately" get a refund on the difference is if the company selling you the goods offers it.
You could try asking the management at the store for the refund, though since you've actually already bought it I don't think that will work. (See if they have a "cheaper elsewhere" offer on other stuff, or you could try "well since you won't refund the difference I won't come here again" line.)
Your credit card company is most certainly not liable for this sort of thing however. (Unless they're the ones supplying the service/goods of course!)Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
I find this bizarre. If you had seen they'd put it up 50 quid would you have gone and offered them the difference? surely it's the luck of when you buy it?0

Dont be a silly billy bikerqueen! (remind yourself why this website was made)
Anyone else remember the old Barclaycard price difference offers? I was wondering if there was a legal stipulation or similar setup where I can get some/all money back?0 -

Why would there be?
Otherwise I could claim against my credit card company because I bought beans at Tesco last week and they are on BOGOF this week. Maybe I could claim because the odds at the bookies improved after I placed a bet, so I didn't win as much as I could have...?
The price of computers is constantly falling anyway, it is to be expected that the price will drop.
Follow Paul Herring's advice...0 -
I'm not being silly (ooh patronise me a bit more there...)
I'm asking a genuine question - surely it's the luck of the draw?0 -
I think bikerqueen's quite right.
There's no legal basis for a claim.
Some card companies do offer/have offered this "price protection" type of cover for their customers - that's the only way you are likely to get it back.0 -
I dont think its silly, I think I remember some credit cards used to offer this years ago but that this was an offer rather than legal requirment, some store cards still do this if you take out the payment protection thingy, the last one I remember was the House of Fraser one, Mother-in Law used to do all her christmas shopping in house of Fraser and then go back in the sales to check if prices had fallen and then claim the difference, not sure if they still dot his or not.....but anyway I give this as an example of way the question is valid
