Moving in to first home soon

Hi all,

I'm soon to move in to my first house (with in a month) looking at buliding insurance and contents (seperate and joint policies being considered via price comparison sites).

The advice I'm after is that of emergency cover/bolier cover.

Most policies I've seen so far already cover the additional things the home emergency policies (drains etc) cover, so with that in mind, is it worth (£25 a month) for the full emergency home cover or just the boiler/boiler annual service cover? Or simply put some money away until it goes wrong/pay for a service annually myself.

Thanks in advance!

For donkeys years I paid British Gas for 5* cover and it kept going up and up. As I always have new boilers when I move into each new property I decided to ditch them when I moved to this house.

First 2 years boiler was covered by manufacturer, but I luckily now have a Gas Safe registered neighbour who services my boiler & I'm a few hundred pounds in by not having a service contract.

If you have an old boiler, then it probably is more sensible to have some sort of cover, unless you know of somebody you could call out should the boiler go on the blink.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
