Accidental Death Cover - Claim

Hi folks,
Can I run this by you...
My Grandad died last night and my nan is quite worried about finances, and I was wondering what people would think about the circumstances for a claim.
Grandad fell over at home and punctured his lung, and spent 5 weeks in hospital during which time he developed pneumonia, c-diff and septicaemia.
The cause of death will be c-diff and septicaemia which caused organ failure, all of which would not have happened had it not been for his fall.
Do insurance policies cover this as accidental death? I don't have his insurance details to hand at the moment, just wanted an initial idea what people think.
Many thanks

Hi there - I'm probably not much help on the claim front as I'm not convinced that an accidental death policy would pay out in these circumstances but I did just want to offer my condolences on yours and your Nan's loss

Sorry to hear of your loss.
I don't know the answer to your question.
It all depends on whether a fall at home is consider an "accident" under the terms of the policy.
You would need to contact the insurance company or the broker/IFA who arranged it for you.
To my mind as a lay person I would have thought a fall did qualify as an accident, but because it's not uncommon in older people it may be specifically excluded.0
