hotel in gateshead

Need a hotel near gateshead athletic stadium, walking distance would be good, anyone recommend one? Thanks

Gateshead Stadium is on a dual carriageway, but the good thing is the majority of it has pavement at the side of it. One downside is that there is an industrial estate at the back of it.

I wouldnt say any of the hotels were within close walking distance or indeed on a safe walking route either. There is a Swallow hotel not too much of a walk from Gateshead Stadium. There is also Gateshead Stadium metro station which is only a short 5 min walk which would open up your options quite a bit, providing a good transport link to Newcastle or other places like the metrocentre where there is a Marriott and a Holiday Inn. There is a Hilton on the quayside which you could walk to but you really need local knowledge to get to it on foot. It would be a fairly nice walk on a warm summer night mind but Id recommend using google maps first to see if you think its manageable.

For the sake of the distance involved I reckon a taxi from the stadium to the hilton wouldnt be much more than a fiver.

The nearest hotels are on the Quayside and are about 15 minutes walk to the stadium past Gateshead College

There's a new Jurys Inn which is the nearest and there's another in the same area of Gateshead. Across the rive you have several more options
