Forgotten to change address

Not sure if I am posting in the right place.

I have recently moved and changed my address for my bank account but inadvertently forgotten to change the address for a direct debit. The amount for this has changed, will it still go through as it's already set up with the account?

Thank you

Change the address for a DD ? What do you mean by this,
  • Sorry DCFC79. I have forgotten to change the address with the company the direct debit is set up for. The amount has changed and the DD is due now. This is why I am wondering if it will go through okay because the change of amount and the address is now different with the bank account.

You mean postal bank right ? Did the new bank ask for the address ?

I wouldn't have thought it would matter, you could call the bank and ask them.

Direct debits are linked your account number and sort code, so changing address should not cause any problems with the claim. If the Direct Debit company are making changes to your payment then they are obliged to give you advance notice, and this is usually in writing. So it is best to still advice them of your new address so you will still get the advices in the post.

One final point, it is very important you advised the Direct Debit company of a change of address if it is important to the payment. For example house or car insurance as your premium and cover are dependant of the insurance company being fully updated (especially if you moved house).
