Oven Cleaning

Options
Having finally completed on our purchase we are now trying to get our new home clean before we move in.

Has anyone used an oven cleaning specialist in the midlands region?
What kind of quotes are you getting?

I was quite surprised to recieve a quote for £95 to clean a range style oven.

Thanks

I'd want to be paid a whole lot more than that to clean someone else's burned-on filth! Quite how dirty is this oven and why wouldn't a proprietary oven-cleaning solution be able to do the job satisfactorily?

When I moved into my new property I got a professional oven cleaner in as the previous owners left the oven in a disgusting state!

I paid £55 for the oven and the extractor to be cleaned, they took it apart and cleaned it thoroughly. Came up a dream!

OP, I would get some more quotes to compare but I dare say a range cooker is probably a little more work than a standard built in electric oven.

I'd just heard good things about these services and though that would be one less thing to do amongst the rest of our huge to do list!
It is particularly flithy, like the rest of the house!

Work it out on an hourly rate - including travelling time how long would it take someone? At least an hour I'd suspect.

Factor in decent cleaning products and a couple of scourers etc and I don't think something under £100 is too bad... £55 seems a steal though!

At those sorts of prices you'd be better off buying a new oven! How old is it?

I'm not sure exactly what company it was but my parents recently had their AGA oven cleaned (in the Midlands) and that was £100, and I have to say it was £100 incredibly well spent! Made a world of difference!

Not really, given that even a cheapo range cooker is likely to cost around 500 quid.......

    thanks everyone....

the quotes ive had back are from £80 - £125.
OH says clean it ourselves. I think we've got more important things to be doing with our limited time before we move in properly!

Looking online it would have been over £1000 brand new and we only paid £100 for it from the vendor.

duckandcover.... thats what im thinking. Will be a good start! plus i dont intend to ever let it get that dirty myself so would be a one off!
