Halifax phone call

I have received a telephone call today from the Halifax asking to speak to my daughter but she is at work. They said it was a courtesy call only and would ring back this evening.

I am a little concerned because, although the account is in her name, I manage it and use it solely to collect the £5 reward each month when I transfer £1000 in and immediately out. This is with her full knowledge of course.

Has anyone else received a similar call as I suspect they may be asking her about how her account is used as, to be honest, it is just a money making exercise by me?

Am I unduly concerned?

It's not necessarily form the Halifax so tell her to be careful and not to give any personal information.

I had one last week who wanted to confirm details but the wouldnt give me what they had, they wanted me to give them details. I told them poliitely to request any information in writing and hung up.
    So I wouldnt be concerened.

Halifax apparantly rang me as well, I asked for a branch and name so I could ring them back and they refused, so I hung up.

If it's a branch calling, the number will definitely be withheld. Doesn't mean it's not a legitimate call.

I would suggest it is most likely a call trying to sell her financial services.

The calls I get from Halifax, usually once a month, saying just courtesy call is to offer me their credit card.

The reason is because every phone in the branch has its own individual number, and they don't want all the numbers to be available to customers.

There will be just one telephone number for each branch published.

Thats a rubbish excuse. At work we have loads of numbers which most customers don't know about, but when we make an outgoing call, we can choose any number we want to be transmitted as the caller. By default we use the main number that starts 0845, but for international calls we use the main switch board number (starting 0121) or a specific DDI. If we can do this as a small company, a mega corporation like a bank can definitely do it.

When Nationwide rang me, they DID present an 0845 number. I still ignored it however as I didn't recognise it until later!
