Private house selling 'success stories'

hello everyone and welcome.
we all know selling your house/flat etc... privately can save you thousands of pounds.
ive started this thread so people can share their success stories, to motivate others. we can all learn from each other.

my two stories are:
1) I, myself sold my 1 bed flat in 2005 to the Chesham council and save over a thousand pounds, also the council gave me a very good deal on the flat, more then what an estate agent would recommend/sell for.
my flat was the only freehold in a council block of 4, so that is what i told the council, i had to call them a few times but it was well worth it.:T
Note: the main thing is to find out who you need to talk to, very important.

2) One of my hubys friends saw a 'private for sale' sign outside a house in Coventry, (this was in about 2007). they just knock on the door, saw the house and bought it. very simple. :rotfl:
however, i must add the house was on a busy main road.

thank you for reading my post, please add your success stories, experiences or suggestions. we are very friendly on this thread so dont be shy.:)
many thanks
