Weekend in Malaga - Hotel/Apartment Suggestions?

Some pals and I (5 in total) are heading to Malaga for a relaxing weekend away with some late sun. There is a multitude of options regarding location and hotels and I could really do with some tips.
The requirements are:
Not too far to travel once we arrive at airport
Near beach location or at least a swimming pool on site
Happy with B&B or self catering apartment
We have budget of £75 per person for the 3 nights accommodation
Close enough to mooch about the city
If we want to dance in the evening a disco or bar is OK
Would really welcome your thoughts folks.
Thanks x

What I really like about flying in Malaga airport is the train which runs along the coast from Malaga city centre to Fuengirola (supposedly to be extended to Marbella but I think they've ran out of money!) so it's cheap and easy to get around without the hassle of a transfer by bus or taxi or having to hire a car.
Personally, for a long weekend, I like Fuengirola. It may not be the prettiest resort in the world but there's a good beach and countless places to eat and drink. I think it's a nice balance between not too quiet and not too busy but there are plenty of other places along the coast depending upon your tastes.
Your accommodation budget should be fine if you are happy to share rooms. There are lots of cheap hotels and apartments around.0 -

The one above does exactly what you are looking for
The one below is much better quality but is probably over budget

£75 will go far in October but not in July/August. When are you going?0

Actually, the wife and I stayed there for 5 nights just a couple of weeks ago. As you say, it is not necessarily a cheap option for somebody on a budget. I had a Junior Suite and it cost something like £800 all-in (basically, full board). It couldn't be any closer to the beachfront, and is just a few minutes walk (via steps or a lift) to the township itself.
One thing about the price...there are plenty of eating-places in the town centre, so a cheaper option would be to book accommodation without the food added on. Having said this, the food (buffet style) was an absolute highlight of the stay.
I would definitely stay there again.
But...to the OP - for economy (and wherever you choose), you might like to consider renting a suitable apartment/villa if there are a number of you.0 -
I'd second Fuengirola for a short break.
Fuengirola Beach Apartments or Myramar Hotel are good options. Both have apartments so you'll have a kitchen. They are also a good location for the shopping mall which has a huge Eroski supermarket, cinema, restaurants.
You can either get the train from the airport to Fuengirola and then get a taxi at Fuengirola station (about 8 euro) to accommodation or we use a2b Transfers which is 8 euro each door to door.0
