Hi everyone
So I'm a provisionally licensed doctor in the uk. I am qualified to apply and work as a junior doctor, but as the foundation programme is an annual opportunity, I made a clerical mistake in this years application and because of this can only reapply this aug for 2014.
Between now and then I have considered getting trained to give Botox treatment to those interested. I am just researching right now to see if its worth investing in, so I would appreciate any useful and candid information.
1- As a provisionally licensed doctor, would I be able to prescribe the botulinum toxin. I personally don't think I can but if anyone knows the facts I'd love to know.
2- how much is insurance a year to cover me against any troublesome cases
3- who provides the best courses?
4- what about official disposal of sharps?
If I think of other questions I'll post but if anyone could offer their advice thoughts and knowledge I'd be very grateful
Thanks0 -

If you're uncomfortable with the idea of botox OP then why would anyone have their treatment done by you rather than someone else? I'm pretty sure anyone who's even remotely nervous would sense your unease (but then maybe I'm an overly sensitive person
)
Have you considered something more long term that builds on skills you already have? Someone mentioned massage. What about other complimentary therapies... there are some that can dovetail with the medical model of health we have in the UK. The hair removal idea sounds good as a start.... research, research and more research to find something you think a) you'll be comfortable with and therefore committed to and b) something long term that you could possibly expand/add to later on. Good luck.0 -
i know a gp who has done this for years - he had 2 offices, and did very well, however since the economic downturn, his business is struggling and he can't rely on it for a regular income stream any longer0

Hello,
Did you pursue this in the end? How did it go if you did?0 -
I thought they were regulating this industry? So only nurses and trained people above could deliver it. Dangerous starting out when they may regulate.0
