Two retracted bids in one day .. My first ever

Options
I have been selling on eBay for about a year and received two emails today, saying there had been a bid cancelled, or in their language, retracted.

This has never happened to me before, so getting one was a shock, but to get another, for a different item by a different buyer about 4 hours later was a double shock.

Am I just unlucky, or is there something going on ?

Do you have reserves on the items? Sometimes people may put in a bid to see what the reserve is.

Very strange to get 2 retractions in one day.
Could it be one buyer with 2 id's, some people's area comes up in their profile, have you had a look to see if you can suss out whether they are the same person?
Have you had any recent disputes?

On a matter of practicalities, that is good, you had someone who realised they didn't want the item and decided to pull out before it reached the end.

On a matter of principle, I would report them for invalid bid retraction; the reason they have given is almost bound to be fake. Anyone who 'bid the wrong amount' should really re-bid the correct amount (it's there for situations where someone means to bid £10.00 but misses out the decimal point and bids £1000 instead), and anyone who says 'couldn't contact seller' (probably) did not try.

You can have your cake (not ending with an NPB or cancellation) and eat it (report the bidders) in this situation :).

As for why now...interesting. I have had no sales from two sets of recent listings now, so maybe things are tighter than usual, or perhaps it's just a random coincidence, the same sort of thing as the 'geographical sales' issue that did the rounds a few years ago (don't get me started on that...).

I suggest you report them and maybe even, if you can see their IDs, check to see whether they could be up to no good or may have similarities between their accounts.
